Set among rolling tea plantations, the Estate Bungalow is a family retreat built to feel at home in the hills. Rather than one large roof, the house is broken into a cluster of steep gables that echo the planters’ bungalows of the region and keep the massing gentle on the slope.

The palette is drawn from the land: brick, stone and timber, with deep timber fascias and glazed gable ends that frame long views across the estate. A curving drive climbs to an entrance court, and a wide balcony wraps the upper level so the family can sit out above the tea.
